Design Story
Testament to skilled craftsmanship and timeless design, our Katong Textured Wall Art is expertly woven on a traditional Indian handloom using cotton and jute—two of our most cherished natural materials at nkuku. This striking piece showcases a classic design, beautifully framed by sustainable mango wood. Its rich texture adds warmth and an organic feel to your living space, making it a versatile focal point blending artistry with sustainability.
How it's Made
We choose to work with natural, recycled and reclaimed materials for our pieces. Jute is a great natural material we love to use as it is a rain-fed crop that has little need for fertilisers or pesticides. It is a natural vegetable fibre that can be spun into strong and durable threads. The traditional Indian handloom represents one of India's most ancient crafts, embodying centuries of heritage. Our pieces honour this legacy; meticulously woven, braided, and stitched by skilled makers using age-old techniques. Each piece celebrates the artistry and craftsmanship passed down through generations.
