Nkuku is B Corp Certified
We’re delighted to announce that after almost two years of rigorous assessment, we have received our certification as a B Corporation, joining a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit.
What is a B Corporation?
B Corps (Better Corporations) are a community of over 6,000 global organisations aiming to demonstrate their impact on people and planet, as well as profit.
Each organisation must pass a rigorous assessment, evaluating not only the product or service on offer, but the entirety of the business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers.
The certification process required us to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. We are delighted to have received a score of 96.4.
What does being a B Corp mean to us?
Nkuku was founded with the simple goal to lead the way with ethical homewares, considering our environmental impact by using eco-friendly materials, valuing, and sustaining handmade traditional skills through fair and transparent relationships with our suppliers, whilst working towards mutual success.
Throughout the years we have evolved, but we have remained true to our founding values which has led us to where we are today, and we couldn’t be prouder of the team who got us here.
“ We established Nkuku in 2003 based on three core values: ethical, eco-friendly, and handmade.”
There is still a lot more work to do but we are committed to doing better and working hard towards our goals, and we can’t wait to see what the future has in store for us.
