Our Nish stool has a simple yet beautifully considered mango wood frame and a woven strap design in jute. A classic black rick rack patterning on the straps adds an extra touch of detail. The natural warm tones of the mango wood complement the naturally paler shade of jute, creating an effortless piece that is versatile and eye-catching. This sturdy occasional stool or footstool is perfect for a hallway, boot room or living room.
The seat straps are hand-woven from jute. Jute is a great natural material we love to use as it is a rain-fed crop that has little need for fertiliser or pesticides. It is a natural vegetable fibre that can be spun into strong and durable threads. Mango wood has a light natural tone with natural variation within the grain. We love working with this material which is a by-product of the mango-growing industry in India and repurposing it to give it a new lease of life. Once the trees are no longer fruitful, they are taken down and we use them to create many of our stylish, eclectic and sustainable furnishings for use throughout the home. We support artisanal ways of working with wood, celebrating and keeping age-old skills alive.
To care for your item, we recommend wiping with a soft, dry cloth to prevent the build up of dust or dirt.
