How It's Made

At nkuku we proudly use natural, reclaimed and recycled materials as we believe in celebrating the beauty of the natural world, reusing resources and minimising waste wherever we can. Our Solan Glass Lantern Pendant is no exception. The base is made from sheet metal, precisely cut to the specific design, then heated and hand-shaped to form the structure. Skilled makers then expertly weld the parts together before adding an antique brass finish to create a beautifully aged aesthetic. We use recycled glass to make the shade. Firstly, the waste glass is collected and washed to remove any impurities; it is then crushed and melted down before being mouth-blown into a mould to create the required shape.
Care Instructions

To care for this pendant, use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the glass in a circular motion on a regular basis. Please do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. Do not clean in hot soapy water.
