Design Story

The simplicity and classic style of the 6-seater Laya table make it an effortless addition to a dining room or kitchen space. A beautifully hand-carved piece, the elegant base has a distinctive silhouette that is in harmonious balance with the generous proportions of the tabletop. The grain of the wood and naturally-occurring knots are highlighted in all their beauty with a raw finish that allows the subtle variations in tone, and the tactility of the wood to shine through. We find a circular table feels beautifully informal and creates easy, intimate gatherings.

How It's Made

This is a hand-carved piece, with the tabletop made from complementary wood boards - each piece is carefully chosen for its harmonious natural tones. The base has been slowly hand-turned to create its distinctive form. The wood has a light natural tone with natural variation within the grain. We love working with this material which is a by-product of the mango-growing industry in India and repurposing it to give it a new lease of life. Once the trees are no longer fruitful, they are taken down and we use them to create many of our stylish, eclectic and sustainable furnishings for use throughout the home. We support artisanal ways of working with wood, celebrating and keeping age-old skills alive.
Care Instructions

To take the best care of your wood, you can treat it with natural oils that you have on hand at home such as Olive Oil or Walnut Oil, using a soft cloth for application. These oils will nourish, but not permanently soak into the wood, so if you wash them off you must reapply them. Please note adding oil may darken the tone of the wood. We recommend using coasters for drinks, the finish may mark when put in contact with hot drinks or liquid. Blot any spillage immediately with a dry cloth, do not use chemical cleaners.

    Gorgeous table

    Very natural dining table, surface top is rough to the finger tip touch just as we had hoped. If you’re looking for a sanded shiny surface this isn’t for you.

    Seats six adults very comfortably and I’m sure you could squeeze in a few more!!

    Very pleased with our purchase its 5 stars from me

    ( be aware this table is very heavy)

    Better than a lot more expensive tables!

    Beautiful table, the style and size is perfect.

    I am going to put a coat of Matt varnish on it to protect it

    Just the look I wanted

    The size is perfect. It has a very rough feel which was expected so it has a rustic look. It took a while to get it properly straight and a spirit level helped.

    The wood does smell a bit , but hopefully this will eventually go.

    Great table

    Lovely large round table. Looks great and cab easily seat 6 adults.

    Only issue is the wood has a bit of an unpleasant smell. Hoping this settles as it becomes acclimatised to the room.
