Design Story

The Alera mango wood side table is a well-proportioned meeting of natural grain, rich brown goat leather and a solid iron frame.

The leather forms a space for magazines and books, its warm tones set against the calm grain of the wood. It is handmade from goat leather, a by-product from herds kept by local herdsmen, and dyed with vegetable extract and tree bark, so its colour will deepen with time. The mango wood comes from trees that have finished bearing fruit.

Only 25cm deep, the Alera side table stands 56cm high and 46cm wide, so it tucks neatly beside a sofa or reading chair.

How It's Made

This leather item is handmade from goat leather, a by-product. The herds are farmed by local herdsmen. The leather is dyed using vegetable extract and tree bark, this means the leather colour will enrich further with time. Our mango wood pieces are created from sustainable mango wood. The Mango trees are initially grown for their fruit, harvested over a number of years. Once the trees have stopped bearing fruit, they can be cut down and used to make our wooden pieces. This allows farmers to plant more trees and provides them with a supplementary income.
Care Instructions

To care for your leather wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. To protect the finish, avoid use of chemicals and household cleaners. To nourish and protect the natural wood, rub an edible oil such as olive oil or walnut oil into the surface with a cloth. Please note adding oil may darken the tone of the wood. Due to the natural beauty of these items there may be changes to the colour over time. To care for this product, we recommend using coasters for drinks, the finish may mark when put in contact with hot drinks or liquid. Blot any spillage immediately with a dry cloth, do not use chemical cleaners.

    practical little side table

ordered this slim table to sit at the end of our new sofa, fits perfectly and has a handy leather magazine rack underneath. Only thing I would say is that the leather sling is a little on the loose side but overall it is a great product thankyou
