TRADITIONAL GLASS MAKING

Recycled glass sits at the heart of our collections. The recycling process begins with the careful collection of waste glass. The different colours are then sorted into separate piles, thoroughly washed to remove any impurities, and finally crushed before being melted down. This molten glass forms the base from which new products are created, either hand-blown freeform or into bespoke moulds, allowing beautiful new pieces to take shape.

Time-honoured Craft

Visiting our glass supplier is, in many ways, like stepping back in time. Traditional ways of working remain very much at the heart of the process, with time-honoured techniques still clearly evident. Glass blowing involves skilled makers blowing air into molten glass, carefully shaping it by hand to create striking organic forms and distinctive designs. We also use moulds to shape certain pieces. This process begins with the creation of a design, which is then carved into a heatproof case. The glass is blown into the mould and fired in the kiln, bringing the design to life.

Tradition Meets Design

Traditional glass making techniques are kept alive through the creation of our glassware, and the organic shapes found in many of our pieces clearly reflect this natural, handmade process. As with all our collections, we find it an exciting and rewarding journey to develop new designs and finishes, guided by the character of the material itself.

Guided by the character of the material, each design is a journey of craft and discovery.

Made with Skill & Intention

Throughout the process, the glass makers nimbly flip and shape the molten glass with extraordinary speed and skill. Their experience means they instinctively understand each movement, transforming what begins as a simple blob of molten glass into something both beautiful and useful. Using recycled glass can result in small air bubbles appearing within the finish. This is a feature we believe adds depth and character, celebrating the unique nature of each piece.
