Conscious Shopping in 2020

More than ever before we need to consider the purchases we are making and their impact on the planet. Nkuku is not new to this concept, established in 2003 on the foundation that ethical business is good business we have been carefully choosing our suppliers and the materials we work for the past 15 years to create sustainable, handmade pieces for the home.

Our suppliers all comply with our Ethical Trade Initiative which requires them to adhere to a strict criterion including transparency and accountability, no child labour or forced labour, no gender discrimination, a fair living wage and good working conditions. We only work with suppliers we know will become long term partners and all our relationships are personal.

Transparency is key to everything we do, knowing our supply chain, understanding where our materials are sourced and making a conscious choice to work with natural, recycled and sustainable materials, to minimise our impact on the environment, is key to our product collections.  We are not a fashion led brand and instead design our collections with longevity in mind, focussing on classic designs and timeless materials.  

This approach has meant that have been able to work more ethically which is better for everyone from the artisans we work with through to our customers who want as much clarity and information as possible.
