As a proud B Corp, Nkuku is delighted to celebrate B Corp Month 2026, a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come and to look ahead at how we can go further. This year’s theme, Ripples to Waves, resonates deeply with us. It’s a powerful reminder that meaningful change often begins with small, intentional actions, actions that, when carried out collectively, gather momentum and become something far greater.
For us, being part of the global B Lab community isn’t just a certification; it’s a commitment. A commitment to continuously better our practices, to measure our impact transparently, and to balance purpose with profit. Our focus remains firmly rooted in People, Planet and Product, ensuring that every decision we make considers the well-being of artisans and growers, the health of the environment, and the integrity of the handcrafted pieces we create.

Deepening our sourcing story
This year, we are diving even deeper into the origins of the materials that shape our collections. In September, our Operations & Impact Director, Chris Wilson, travelled to India on a sourcing trip with our trusted suppliers to trace the roots of our mango wood pieces back to the source. Mango wood is a by-product of the fruit industry. Mango trees are typically grown for their fruit, with a productive lifespan of around 10–30 years. Once fruit yields decline, the trees are felled to make space for new growth. Rather than allowing this wood to go to waste, it is repurposed into beautifully handcrafted furniture and homeware. By using mango wood, we support a circular system that maximises the value of existing natural resources.
During the trip, Chris met directly with farmers and landowners, reviewing the lifecycle of the trees, from sapling to fruit-bearing maturity, through to replanting. These conversations are invaluable. They strengthen our understanding of land stewardship, ensure responsible sourcing practices are upheld, and reinforce our commitment to supporting local growers and rural livelihoods. Visiting these sites in person enables us to build long-term, transparent relationships and ensure our supply chains align with our B Corp values.

Collective action for our coastline
B Corp Month is also about rolling up our sleeves and taking action. This spring we’re proud to once again partner with Til The Coast Is Clear for our annual company beach clean at Slapton Sands. This has become a meaningful yearly tradition for our team, a tangible way to care for our local environment and contribute to the well-being of our community. Small acts, repeated year after year, truly do create ripples that build into waves.
Strength in partnership: Supporting fellow B Corps
Another cornerstone of our B Corp journey is collaboration. We believe in setting a precedent: supporting businesses that are equally committed to positive change amplifies collective impact. Over the past year, we’ve continued our partnership with Sandridge Barton, champions of delicious, low-impact winemaking. We’ve also begun an exciting collaboration with fellow Devon-based B Corp Riverford, who work tirelessly to support local farmers, reduce food miles and combat food waste through their organic veg boxes.
A partnership especially close to our hearts is our long-standing collaboration with Frank Water, now proudly rolling into its 10th year. Frank Water is a charity dedicated to bringing safe, clean drinking water to communities in countries such as India, Nepal and across Africa. Each year, we pledge a percentage of our sales to support their vital work, helping to fund sustainable water solutions and create lasting change for families who need it most.
Our blooming partnership with Petalon continues to flourish. Growing beautiful, seasonal slow blooms in the rolling fields of Cornwall, Petalon prioritises renewable energy and carbon-conscious growing practices — a true celebration of thoughtful, sustainable floristry.
In celebration of B Corp Month, we’re also partnering with Boutique Retreats to offer two lucky winners the chance to win £1000 worth of B Corp prizes.
Looking ahead to Global Recycling Day, we’re thrilled to introduce a new partner: Pentire Spirits, a sustainable no- and low-alcohol spirits brand distilled on the north coast of Cornwall. It’s another step in our commitment to aligning with brands that share our environmental and ethical values.
Celebrating International Women’s Day
On 4th March, as we mark International Women’s Day, we shine a spotlight on the inspiring MGO Basket Collective in India. Our Indra Coil baskets are handmade by a collective of 160 women, established by an NGO as a sustainable livelihood project in drought-prone rural areas. The initiative supports women who previously depended on seasonal agricultural labour by providing supplementary, year-round income. Craftswomen are trained in traditional Karnataka techniques, creating handspun, naturally dyed baskets and bags using jute, cotton, banana leaf and leather.
This meticulous handmade process means the collective produces a limited number of pieces each month, making every item truly special. By continuing to partner with this organisation, we are proud to support women’s economic independence, preserve heritage craft, and champion slow, considered production.
From Ripples to Waves
As we look to the future, our commitment remains clear: to keep making waves. We will continue refining our products, designing with longevity, responsibly sourced materials and timeless craftsmanship at their core. We will keep investing in our people, nurturing long-term artisan partnerships, supporting fair wages and safe working environments. And we will remain dedicated to protecting our planet, reducing waste, lowering emissions and strengthening circular practices across our supply chain. B Corp Month reminds us that real change doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through consistent action, transparency, collaboration and care. Every sourcing trip, every partnership, every beach clean, every handcrafted piece, each one is a ripple. Together, those ripples become waves.
